29TH ANNUAL VEIN DRAIN

WEAR ABC TV Channel 3, SUBWAY and Northwest Florida Blood Services will host the 29th Annual Vein Drain Blood Drive. This special blood drive encourages everyone to make a commitment to start the New Year by donating blood to help patients in our local hospitals.

Pensacola VEIN DRAIN:
The blood drive will be held at WEAR ABC TV Channel 3 on Friday, January 9, 2006 from 7am-6pm at 4990 Mobile Highway. SUBWAY sandwiches will be served from 11am to 1pm. Blood donors may also participate at both the NFBS centers located at 2209 North Ninth Avenue and 1999 East Nine Mile Road in Pensacola from 9am to 6pm. Ft Walton blood donors may participate at the 413 N.E. Racetrack Road location. A special Vein t-shirt will be given to all blood donors. It will be the final day to register for the KIA OPTIMA donated by KIA AUTOSPORT of Pensacola. Drawing will be January 14, 2008. All blood donors will receive a free cholesterol screening, get their blood type and be entered in the Blood Donor Benefit Program.

Ft. Walton VEIN DRAIN:
Ft Walton blood donors may participate at the 413 N.E. Racetrack Road location on Friday, January 9, 2009 from 9am to 6pm. On Saturday, January 10, the VEIN DRAIN will continue at the Santa Rosa Mall from 11am to 5pm located at 300 Mary Esther Boulevard.

Crestview EARLY VEIN DRAIN KICK-OFF:
On Thursday, January 8, blood donors at North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview will kick off the blood drive to help provide blood and blood components for hospital patients from 8am to 4pm. North Okaloosa Medical Center is located at 151 East Redstone Avenue in Crestview.

Donors are eligible at 16 years with parental consent. There is no age limit. Donors must weigh 110 pounds and be in good health. A picture ID is required for each donation. Start the New Year and become a life saver. Make a contribution to our community with a blood donation. Check our website www.nfbcblood.org. for additional information.


8TH ANNUAL COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR

The Navarre Chamber’s 8th Annual Health Fair will be held January 17, 2009, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Navarre High School Cafeteria, 8600 High School Blvd.

The Health Fair is an annual event designed to increase health awareness in the community by providing health screenings, educational materials, and demonstrations. With over 600 attendees over the last couple of years and the expansion of the venue, the committee is expecting an even larger crowd and a wider variety of health related screenings and exhibitors. Activities will be available for all ages, including a jump house, balloon sculptor, performances from local schools, a velcro wall and free health screenings for attendees of all ages.

The committee is now accepting registration for booth space through January 5, 2009. Booth space is limited but open to both Chamber and non-Chamber members. The Health Fair is free to the public. ROAD RALLY / HISTORICAL ADVENTURE

On Saturday January 24, 2009 the Santa Rosa Kids House will host its first Santa Rosa County Road Rally/Historical Adventure. Car Clubs, schools, friends and families are invited to participate in this fun, adventurous and challenging event.

Participants will meet at Pace High School located at 4065 Norris Road in Pace where registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. Registration cost is $30 and covers the driver's lunch and his/her navigator's lunch(Additional lunches can be purchased for $5 each). The Rally is scheduled to depart at 9:30 a.m. Participants will be given a rally book complete with trivia questions, directions, clues, puzzles and mileage information which will lead them to various "Pit Stops" throughout Santa Rosa County. Lunch will be served at one of the "Pit Stops". The winning team is the team that finishes closest to the target completion time with all correct answers in the rally book, not the team who finishes first! All traffic laws are to be obeyed and finishing sooner than the target completion time may cause the participant(s) to be ineligible for prizes.

Participants will compete in one of four classes: Rookies (ages 16-19), Veterans (ages 20-40), Legends (ages 40+), and Corporate Class (Business Teams). Prizes will be awarded in each class as well as the winner of the "Show Your School Spirit" car decorating contest. Students of Santa Rosa County High Schools are invited to decorate their automobiles showing their school spirit. A prize will be awarded to the owner of the automobile whose vehicle best depicts their school spirit.

All drivers must show a valid Drivers License and proof of insurance at time of registration. All drivers will meet back at Pace High School at 5:00 p.m. for awards and recognition. Participants may register early by contacting Cathy Powers-Sears @ 850-983-4442.
